Ode to Marissa Mayer Haters Gonna Hate
Hi everybody!!!! You might know my mom, Jackye from pursuitology.com. I am her 6th grade daughter, Hannah. Because, today is bring your kid to work day, my mom gave me a project. She told me that I had to write for her blog and my jaw just about dropped!
Anyway, I’m writing about Marissa Mayer, CEO of Yahoo! and a former VP of Google. She has the weight of Yahoo! on her back and she is always getting picked on for leaving Google. Google didn't give her what she deserved so she left. After her 14 years producing and overseeing some of the best applications to date, she had no power and was overlooked for promotions! At least Yahoo! recognized this. Marissa is the best thing that ever happened to Yahoo!. (According to seekingalpha.com) Yahoo went from 24% in market shares at the end of 2006 to only 13% in the middle of 2012, so she has a method to her madness. Maybe Google fans are just jealous because she took her skills somewhere else. (I bet you all you haters will turn out to be my waiters! Check please!! – Hannah Clayton)
Don’t worry Marissa, like Drake says, “I can’t hear the critics talking over the applause.”
Not letting employees work from home increases air pollution because of driving over 15 miles to work and back again. I can tell you first hand that I enjoy having my mom work at home because she can participate in school events. I think working at home helps people have more family time. Some people these days don’t even get to see their family. But you have to do what you have to do.
I hope you succeed Marisa but remember working with a strict boss on 18 hour shifts can defiantly increase stress at the work space. From what I heard stress gives you gray hairs and NO ONE wants gray hairs! At the end of the day, if you want your employees to be happy, you can’t be crappy. Oh and bring back the ad campaign, “Yahoooooo-hoo!”
P.S. Don’t tell my mom I just said crappy……..
